What are Executive Functions?

Our program is designed to help you develop and implement essential executive function skills needed to reach your personal goals.

Executive functions are abilities that direct the completion of everyday tasks, such as

Self-control and regulation of thoughts, emotions, behavior

Attention: Focusing, maintaining, and shifting 

Organization: Creating & using systems to keep track of belongings & information

Planning: Thinking about what is needed before beginning. Creating & tracking steps to completion

Initiation: Starting action with no procrastination, even when it is a less-desired task

Time management: Estimating time, prioritizing tasks, using time wisely, and completing tasks on time.

Perseverance: Working through challenges, having stress tolerance.

Flexibility: Coping with change, ability to see multiple perspectives while problem-solving.

Working memory: Keeping information in our heads while we use it. 

Metacognition: Thinking about our thinking - considering what we know & don't know as we learn, knowing how we learn best
